I used to always lock the car with a press of the black button. Either door, no worries.

Just the other day it stopped working. Either door, nothing.

Lock on key fob works fine, so this doesn't stop me going out in the car.

I've read the manual & searched for hints & tricks, but can't find anything related.

Has anyone come across a situation that can disable the use of these buttons? eg, if you hold the one on the boot down for >3 secs, or if you try the button with the bonnet open, or if you turn around 3 times while humming a tune etc.

I do remember there is something silly that if you use the key card then it disables the button lock / unlock function until you have started the car again- no idea why it's set up like that but confused me in the first few days I had mine

Thanks Andy665,

Started & stopped the car & now the buttons work again. I'm going to add this little bit of knowledge to my laminated list of "features" to keep.

It’s actually an excellent security measure.
When the car is locked via the fob it disables remote unlock via the door buttons-
It’s the way to stop people using signal repeaters to fool the car into thinking the fob is near the car.

I live in a "safe" rural area, but for times I'm in the big smoke, are you saying it's more secure to use the fob?

Yes. In addition if you press either the lock button on the car or the button the door TWICE in quick succession this deadlocks the car. It prevents opening the doors with the handle even if a window is smashed. I use that feature if I'm going away for a few days.

This is a feature I really like. I usually lock with the Fob for full security, but if I am only stepping away for a minute then its useful to be able to use the keyless entry.

Other cars I've had you have to select one or the other and set it in the settings menu in the car. This is a really neat solution.

Yes- definitely- and do the double tap as suggested to deadlock it.
I live in a “safe” rural area but still lock it this way on the basis it’s “safe” until it isn’t.
