May 11 - Shropshire - Mid Wales Drive out
Discussion
Starting in Minsterley (SY5 0EH), just 8 miles off the A5 at Shrewsbury and finishing at same point.
148 miles taking in some great roads and multiple stops over to Mid-Wales, down and around the Elan Valley and back to the start point.
As is always the case with runs I arrange a full printed roadbook will be available on the day (PDF in advance if required).
No silly driving and we never leave a stop point until the group has re-formed meaning that everyone can drive at a pace that is comfortable for themselves.
Some great photo opportunities on this route, always a great bunch of people and we make sure its just as much about the banter as it is about the driving

How much notice do you need?
I was expecting to have my A110 by now, but export delays mean I’m still waiting.
If I can get the running-in mileage done I’d like to join the drive out. (The starting point is a bit of a trek, but should be worth it.)
No notice at all, just turn up. Its always good to have a rough idea of numbers but always have plenty of roadbooks printedI was expecting to have my A110 by now, but export delays mean I’m still waiting.

Did a trial of the run yesterday, very light traffic and some epic roads, really like the B4158 from Llandioes to Rhayader.
Changed the leg around the Elan Valley, greatcroads but always busy with cyclists and SUVs and moved it to along the National Cycle Route 81, just as good and very little traffic

Quick heads up for Sunday 11 May drive out. If you are coming along the A5 and then off to the A488, please be aware that the A488 is closed for a section (as per highlighted map) - I would suggest leaving the A5 and going down the A458 (next roundabout) and towards Oswestry and then taking the B4286 and B4387 to Minsterley

Thanks for the warning. It’s a bit of a journey from Hinckley, so the last thing I want is to get stuck on the way there.
Going past the A5 turning for the A488 and taking the first exit off the next roundabout on to the B4386 and then B4387 will probably add 10 mins max - the official diversion apparently is 45 miles but bonkers - no official confirmation on how much of the A488 will be closed but have it on good authority that my suggested way around B4386 / B4387 will be fineEdited by Andy665 on Tuesday 6th May 16:30
