Before I do the male thing and keep at it until I break something biggrin

Has anyone installed the D Clips from Life 110?

How do you get the final fastener on without ruining it? And should the better looking side be up against the washer or facing the mount.

Cheers smile

If I recall correctly I used the old washer and a socket. Could possibly just use a socket which is slightly larger than the fixing.

I used a long reach 8MM socket tapped down with a small hammer and a log underneath as an anvil.
All on a coffee table in the lounge.

Genius! I was trying with just a washer.

I'll get the sockets out tonight.

Thanks all, then will it be light enough to fit the new paddles?

Probably wait till Saturdaybiggrin

Great suggestions.

Big plastic toolbox as an anvil and the 8mm socket was perfect.

Of course no1 went on perfectly using your idea, and then......dammit! I had forgotten the washer.

Cue a good 10 minutes of trying to twist the fastener off. Good job it's made of tough stuff as it didn't break but I got it off in a highly mangled state.

Needle nose pliers to try to bend it into some sort of version of it's former self.

It's ugly, but once the cover is in position, it won't be seen.

Annoying tho'

The other 7 went on a dream. Thanks smile

I fitted these engine cover D rings sometime ago. I have found them to flimsy, the D can twist if you apply more than gentle force as you twist to lock. Also the locking pin is made of softer metal than the original and shows sign of being chewed up by the Dzus fasteners

The set I got from Life 110 looked and felt sturdy. Bit of a weight to them in the bag, compared to the OEM black screws.

Mine are the Life ones, coloured. Not obvious on the website that there are two different materials...

I'm sure I'd seen coloured ones on their site a long while ago.

I was hoping that they'd come back as I really fancied the ones in Alpine Blue.

Only silver seems to have been available.

I believe the original version, black, blue and orange may have been Ali, the new silver ones are titanium I believe.
