Thought I would add this one as a few now on here. Well my wife has one and she isn't here so you get me instead.

Here it is.

One question I do have. Charged the car today and it finished around 3 hours ago. The app is being very slow though and now showing it is 65% from around 4 hours ago.

Tried the usual, restarted phone, app etc, opened and locked car.

Has anyone experienced that?

Hmmm... How does it "feel" to sit in that interior? The dash looks a bit brutalist, to me.

It's actually a nice place to be. The leather is nice soft Nappa. I think the screens are pretty common now on most cars right? Certainly my M3 has similar and I know people didn't like them at first.

Looks great in black and a nice saving in view of the cost of the other colours. Interior leather looks very nice too.

I would love to know what you mean by brutalist. Such a bizarre word.

Brutalism was a style of architecture designed to shape the way in which people lead their lives. Brutalist architects generally thought that they could impose a different value set upon people by forcing them, for example, into close proximity with each other. This was typically associated with the slum clearances and a presumption by the architects that those living in the slums were somehow inferior and needed to be "improved" by putting them in a built environment that was alien to them and which tried to force them into new patterns of behaviour and interaction. See the "Streets in the Sky" report for what happened around the Parkhill estate in Sheffield as an example of how badly this went.

So, to me, the screen and general hard edges of the dash reminded me of this. It is distinctly different from the norm. As in, the way in which the dash, wheel, and vents are presented to the driver are solid, angular, and speak a different design language to what is usually found.

Hence my question about whether this was causing a cognitive dissonance (i.e. with experience running counter to expectations), or if it genuinely feels like a nice place to be suggesting that others aren't reading the interior design in the same way as I do.

Interior is a great place to be, plenty of soft materials, good mix of screen and real buttons.
The only shortcoming is a lack of cupholder.

I am not sure brutalist is an accurate description at all, have you sat in one.

290 GTS coming on salary sacrifice - Octopus EV is a no brainer - everything covered - Insurance, maintenance, tyres, tax (not much) and all I have to pay is a small net salary sacrifice and a BIK tax. Makes the car pretty much free. So will see what this EV stuff is all about. Haven't even sat in one.

Have heard reports of the Octopus charger/connector and the Alpine causing issues as the car shuts down to save energy and octopus charger thinks its not there.

Just from what I remember reading so probably best to do some additional checks on my facts prior to getting the charger/connector installed (unless you already have one)

Not heard that one. The issue that I was told was that the schedule on the car app causes issues for similar reason. Was told to schedule via the Charger rather than the car, which is the opposite of your suggestion.

Have fun with the new car! I like some fine details like the blue strip under the roof line.

Any chance to drive it a bit to see the battery performance? How happy are you with the range? Is it close to the catalog value?

After a few 10.000 miles -if you notice any degradation- please update us about the battery health.

TBH my wife does ideal EV use case journeys, back and to to work in town. I noted a little run up to Wrexham drastically increased the projected mileage as i left and returned on the same miles available (although the %age had dropped). She did run up to Chester in it the other day as well which stretched its legs.

TBH I am working on the basis that it needs a charge up to 80%(from 20-30%) once every two weeks. I've not worked out what it is doing as "mpg". Will see how much that drops over the winter.

Note that the app tells me it has 79% and 138 miles at present. Sounds low, but this is purely short journeys of less than 2 miles.

I drove a GTS a few weeks back and thought it was pretty good from the short test drive I had. The dash layout looked fine to me and considering it’s French I thought the interior looked good quality. The leather dash and seats really lifts the interior. Rear leg room was really bad but wouldn’t put me off as it would only be a a runaround short journey car plus kids are grown up and left home!
Was all set to order one through the wife’s work, salary sacrifice but then had an unexpected tax bill so will have to wait a bit longer.

Cracking looking little car!

Test driving one this afternoon to replace an I-Pace that has been fault free but the manufacturer warranty is about to end and its £1500 a year to renew.
My A110 is Alpine Blue, is the A290 blue the same colour? Don't want it clashing with my Alpine Blue A110.
It does look great in Black though.

Ever since Renault announced the 5 EV I have kept an eye on this.
A little disappointed that there is no AWD version to make it go faster handle better.
What are peoples thoughts on this?

^ I also had some expectations. However, after R5 Turbo 3E I'm thinking Renault wanted its legacy to continue with R5. So, I'm assuming that's the reason why there's no special (like AWD) Alpine variant.

Have any new owners gone for any underbody treatments like lanoguard or anything? Ordered mine a couple of weeks ago and since then seen pics of drive shafts on r5s and A290s rusting within weeks. I live about 50ft from the sea so I'm a bit concerned about rot
