Advice needed! smile I'm swapping the stock wheels for lighter ones, and plan to use wider rims while I'm at it - 8" front and 9" rear. The question is - will the stock front 205/40R18 PS4's fit fine? I would appreciate photos if you use this combination.

TIA!

Yes, a 205/40 can be fitted to an 8” width rim. Any wider and you would need to go to 215 fronts (which can be on 8.5” max).

This is ‘normal’ fitment advice btw - not saying Eurostylers or VIP dudes haven’t managed more outlandish combinations…

It's hard to see the stretch, even if zoomed in, but this is how my car came to me - OEM tyres on 8 & 9 inch wheels.
I prefer a more square tyre to rim setup, so I bought 245's for the rear & 225's for the front. The table above shows these sizes to be the lower of the 2 recommended for those wheels, & I agree because mine are still very slightly 'stretched' compared to my personal preference. The speedometer reads much closer with 245's on the rear, but maybe next set I will try 255's.

Something to note about about having stretched tyres on the front, the steering becomes overly sharp, at least it did for me. It made driving straight down the motorway very tiresome. I could have adjusted this with alignment, but going up 2 sizes in front tyre fixed it.

I ran 225&255 good year eagle super sport but now running 225&245 Continental sc7 a much better tyre IMHO only because they don't make a 255.
The difference was most apparent on track and the speedometer actually matched the gps readings.
Aesthetically more pleasing to my eye also.

Have you had the Conti SC7's long enough to report on wear/longevity?

Do you find the Continental sizes narrower than Michelin, or even the previous Eagle's? I'm looking at the SC7's for a different car. I tried a earlier model of theirs in 255 width, & it measured & looked like a 235 so I had them replaced.

I certainly like the Conti , much improved wet and cold weather performance. No problem with wear and don't appear to overheat on track like the eagles. Wish they did 255 for the rear.
