So out of 28k of the gen 2 A110, how many made it to the UK? 1500-2000?
I have a sneaky feeling the next one (granted it'll be EV) is going to be rather good...

They have already confirmed it will be fully electric. They have said the platform can accept an ICE in the future though, which let’s be honest, they will need as I can’t see them selling many electric A110sNaturally_aspirated said:

Well you say that, but if they get it right as an EV they open up their own market niche. What other fully electric sports cars are there? yes there are hot hatches (Ioniq5N, A290, etc), and the hot bigger saloons (Taycan Turbo etc), but then the only options are an MG Cyberster roadster or the daft £££ hypercars like Lotus and Rimac.
A decent priced EV coupe that's almost as much fun to fire through a B-road as an A110 is going to clean up.
[Caveat: I'm no EV preacher, I really like them for running around and local duties but am a petrolhead through and through]

Both lower volume than the Alpine. But if they get it right, there will be real options for people who want an EV driver’s car.

...if it doesn't fall to pieces within a couple of years like the current one. So out of 28k of the gen 2 A110, how many made it to the UK? 1500-2000?

...such shocking quality control and overall build quality for a £50k car. 'Emperor's new clothes' syndrome in full force within the owners group. I've driven one for several hours and they don't live up to the hype in my opinion - in terms of ride and handling. The piped engine noise into the cabin from the little 4-pot is comical too. I really wanted to love it.

Possibly, but it feels the EV sports car market is small, a niche within a niche. Alpine didn’t have high sales of a petrol version that’s super light, a heavier EV version surely isn’t going to sell more, but I’d love to be proved wrong as I want Alpine to succeed. What other fully electric sports cars are there? yes there are hot hatches (Ioniq5N, A290, etc), and the hot bigger saloons (Taycan Turbo etc), but then the only options are an MG Cyberster roadster or the daft £££ hypercars like Lotus and Rimac.

I've been pondering this as well. Porsche called time on the Cayman/Boxster EV, so this (admittedly left) field is wide open. Part of me wants to believe that a good contender would, indeed, clean up. On the other hand, demand for sports cars is already low and an EV sports car would be a harder sell still. Yet, I would be one of those people who could be tempted by one - not to replace, but to supplement the cars I have. But again, if even Porsche already got cold feet to the point of terminating development with a lot of cost already sunk...
