Exhasut valve question

I have the standard active exhaust on A110s (The single split exhaust tip).

The thing is, I can't really tell the difference with sports mode engaged or otherwise. The idle speed rises, and a get the pops and bags (which I assume is mapping rather than exhaust flow?), but otherwise it sounds the same to my ear.

I'd be interested to hear everyone elses comments, or whether its worth exploring the valve operation itself?

Mine is the same on my 71 plate pure. It’s certainly loud enough, but switching between the modes doesn’t increase the exhaust sound but does introduce the pops.

The increase in sound at idle seems to come from the increased idle speed in sport.

I’m not sure if the car only opens the valve at certain revs or throttle positions. That’s how is works in my Giulia.

Or more likely my valve may be seized, I do get the characteristic squeak noise others have reported when lifting off which can indicate the valve is on its way out.

Was the same in my 2019 pure and seems to be the same in the new 2026 one (although not run in yet so haven't had a real chance to give it full beans).

I nearly didn't bother with it on the new car, but you also lose the induction tube and I quite like the induction noise.

Agreed, the cabin induction noise is addictive. Find myself short shifting a lot to make it play tunes! 🤌

Mines a pure, ‘71 plate. Standard exhaust. Since new there’s not been a big difference in the exhaust note on the sport button. What it does allow is the overrun pops but in a much more subtle and natural way than the artificial pop pop pop pop that the sports exhaust does. I like it, you have to try to make it happen and it only does when you are going a bit harder and not just get it every time you back off crawling through traffic.
