Karting? Any one here do it as an adult?
Discussion
Hi,
Been looking for info about it as myself and a friend fancy getting our own one each and having a bit of a laugh with them racing and practicing etc.
Can't find a PH karting section, so wondered if there is a decent place to start reading up all about it.
I have googled and found a few "national" sites etc but there is very little specific info on these sites.
Thanks for any advice given
Greg

Craig and I were in Thailand for a 24 hour last month - we're both racing in the UK 24hr at Whilton Mill later in the month. In fact we were racing yesterday, at sunny Crail. I didn't sit in a kart 'till I was 41, so I guess that makes me an adult, though i'm not sure my wife would agree.
Bottom line is, you're never too old!

Used to do karting every week back at university, and as soon as I have the cash I want to buy a couple myself and do arrive and drives.
However, I'm used to the kick in the kidneys that Club 100 and twin-engined pro-karts offer. I'd like to get something that did that but without the need for a whole pit crew - just some oil, chain lube and spares.
Would it be viable to attach a small turbocharger to a Honda single-cylinder OHV engine?![](http://www.pistonheads.com/include/images/nuts.gif)

It all gets a bt silly in karting, from what I can gather. My boss is getting into it and will be buying a mechanic, trailers, self grenading tuned engines etc. I agree, a charged honda mower engine is the way forward for no nonsense fun. Pah, I'll stick to the usual 20 quid a session.
I used to race Rotax Max for a few seasons down in the South Coast.
Very very quick when compared to hire karts and a fair bit more kick than Club 100, or Pro Karts. They're a 125 2 stroke, similar to the one seen in a 125 Aprilia track bike. Electric start, simple to maintain and tune depending on the weather conditions
Basically get yourself down to your nearest track - try karting.co.uk and see what classes they have avaliable, and who is avaliable to help you out.
They're a pretty resourceful bunch and will usually help you out after a crash or mechanical breakdown.
Good luck![](http://www.pistonheads.com/include/images/smile.gif)
