Mismatch of Ferrari Approved Warranty vs Hybrid Warranty

In looking at pre-owned 296s at eight Ferrari dealers, one issue that has come up is the warranties. Obviously, buying a Ferrari Approved car it will come with a two-year warranty. However, that two-year Ferrari Approved warranty is separate from the hybrid lithium battery.
In the UK, the cars from new come with a five-year hybrid system warranty. So, an early 2022 registered car will see its hybrid battery warranty expire in early 2027.
As a result, some of the older cars are now at an age where their hybrid battery warranty will expire before the Ferrari Approved two-year warranty expires.
As an example, today you buy a Ferrari Approved 2022 296 that was registered new in July '22. The Ferrari Approved two-year warranty will run from Dec'25 to Dec'27. The hybrid battery warranty runs from July '22 to July '27. This leaves a period from August '27 to Dec '27 where you do not have a warranty on the car's hybrid lithium battery.
Many Ferrari dealers have explained that they will cover the cost of the stub period Aug '27 to Dec '27 for the hybrid warranty. However, there are some Ferrari dealers who have explained that they will not cover that stub period. Obviously, you are welcome to on your own go and purchase the Warranty Extension Hybrid for £11,600 plus VAT for 24 months.
The point is that some Ferrari dealers are selling Ferrari Approved cars where the hybrid battery warranty will expire in less than two years. Given how expensive the batteries are to replace (circa £30,000), it's good to pay attention to the dates and warranty schedules.

It covers the hybrid system, not just the lithium battery.A dealer who brought my 2023 296 back in to stock, was initially concerned that the hybrid warranty inflexible and £11k to extend, but then realised Ferrari permit its dealers to extend for shorter interim periods at a much lower cost.
Try Carrs Ferrari. My former car caused me zero issues, is a great spec and is up for £204k. (No personal interest as they brought outright).

I actually did speak to them about your car.
I think if you buy the warranty again they replace the battery “free of charge” at some point (7 years?)

Ferrari UK cars come with five years from new for the hybrid warranty. This is the picture from the Ferrari UK website. Unfortunately, a few of the Ferrari salespeople do not know about Ferrari warranties.5050 said:

I imagine that the Colchester dealer was quoting the UK mechanical warranty and not answering your question about the KERS warranty.

Just to get my head around the 296 warranty...
Lets say you buy the 2022 £185k main dealer car and you were looking at keeping it for 5 years.
The car would come with 1 year of Hybrid warranty left, you would then have 4 years at £7k pa ?
For the non hybrid bits you then have an additional warranty with a similar cost to the V8 cars ?
(£4,200 a year including inspection?)
I assume you get a 2 year used car warranty, would you then have 3 years at £4200 pa ?
So in the 5 years of owning the car would you have £28,000 + £12,600 in warranty costs?

If you buy a 2022 Ferrari Approved 296, then you will have just one year left of the hybrid warranty (unless the dealer or previous owner added to that). However, you will get a two-year Ferrari Approved warranty for everything excluding the hybrid system. Lets say you buy the 2022 £185k main dealer car and you were looking at keeping it for 5 years.

I have just checked and there is a single warranty which covers both hybrid drivetrain and the rest. I'm not sure about the "gap" year though when the non hybrid warranty runs out, I think you can pay extra for the continuation of the hybrid warranty. Overall price is pegged at about the same as the warranty package for V12 models.

The hybrid cars have separate individual warranties, there is not a single warranty like a non-hybrid car. This is why we end up with cars that have different warranties expiring at different times. Gassing Station | Ferrari V6 | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
