Hi - I have just bought a 2023 GTS but it's on private plates and I will be adding my own.

The current front plate is really small (illegal) and I was told a full sized rear does not actually fit without bending.

Therefore my first question is does anyone have any pictures or recommendations for the ideal shapes/sizes of plate - ones that actually fit and look ok but not that small that they would get unwanted attention!

Why not just get something like this?
I had them on my 458, 488’s and 812 and work great. Sure you’ll find a couple of different companies offering this type of solution.

I use the Carbonio mount with a 5 digit private plate. You can trim the full size plate on the right and left border legally but not top and bottom. Get them made to this size and they will have a BS mark. Using a smaller font is actully much more serious (3 points) than displaying no plate (£100). Stick on number plates are also not DLVA approved.

I don't have a front camer is it works for me, I think you are the same.

I'm not sure this is correct.

The guidance specifies 'the margins at the top, bottom and side of the plate must be 11mm', so it would be perfectly legal to cut down top and bottom to that minimum margin.

I agree the plate size can be changed. I measured my existing plates which are part of the same format and also have a border.

If the plates were trimmer at the top and bottom border and the same distance at the sides then they would be approx 420mm wide and 100mm deep.

They can be made with the standard UK legal letters and spacing and just a smaller back plate. Obviously no badge etc.

Hopefully they will fit on the rear and look ok but will share photos once fitted.

Apologies for coming back to this post.

I think this part is incorrect also - I don't believe any number plate offences are endorsable.

Yes, on checking I was incorrect on the penalty points.
There is an escalation clause for repeat offenders of a fine of up to £1,000.
Ghost plates or font formats deliberately designed not to be read by ANPR are still not classed as criminal offences.
