Auction title is technically wrong.

Its a 1980 Lancia Beta Spider.

Only the US cars were called Zagato,

The car is a Pininfarina design, but they didn't have capacity to build the cars for Lancia, so Zagato were given the job of building them. Coupe bodyshells were shipped from Turin to Milan to be converted into Spiders, then were carted back to Turin for the next stage, then back to Milan for paint and trim, and then back to Turin for engine and gearbox.

Thanks for clarifying this

Another point - the speedo is calibrated in kph, so the recorded mileage is actually 42839

Another small correction: The Beta Spyder is spelt with a “y” not an “i” like the Alfa Spider for instance. I own a 1980 Spyder as well. Great car.

That's not true.

Lancia used both Spider and Spyder in their literature. Spider is the more common spelling in most brochures and all the parts books.
