Absolutely cracking looking car, to my eyes the best looking E class estate they ever made and with one of the best V8s ever made!!

Advisory on last MOT shows new front wheel bearings required, both offside and nearside, what is the approximate dealer cost to replace these items?

Hi,
Is there an explanation for the gap in the service history between 2015 and 2022, and a missing MOT also during that time?

Hi

Thanks! Best colour, find another, etc, etc! It is a real stunner though.

The part is £60-£120 per side, then labour. I've used a local(ish) specialist over the past few years so will contact them to find out.
There is no noise from the front end, and while the last MoT (same specialist) picked up some wear, they advised no action was needed for now.

Hi,
Yeah, I did query this when I bought it. Fortunately, it's fairly straightforward.
The previous owner was the selling dealer. They bought it, massively over-priced it (there is actually a thread on here somewhere!), ended up sitting on it when it didn't sell, then keeping it themselves for a few years, hence the ultra-low mileage during that time too. For some unfathomable reason, they didn't get it serviced with a dealer who could update the digital record. Slightly odd, I know.
In my ownership it had an initial very thorough going over at a local specialist (hence initial big bill), received a very clean bill of health, and has wanted for nothing since.
I bought it with the intention of keeping it for nor more than a couple of years - it was an itch I needed to scratch, and of all the E63's I'd looked at this was far and away the best condition and mileage. I completely fell in love with it but after 3 and a half years there are other itches!
Hope that helps.

Hi
Yes, but I'm away from Saturday early am. PH have slightly stuffed up the timing, which is irritating, sorry.
It'll be at work during the day tomorrow and home in the evening (7pm onwards).
Happy to get pictures/video of any details you're particularly interested in.

Other option is for me to ask my father-in-law to come over to the house at the w/e or next week. Mother-in-law thinks it's a ridiculous car and is glad I'm selling it, so I'm sure he'd be happy to help...

Hi
Front discs and pads (OE AMG/Brembo) were replaced in April 2023, and I've done about 14k miles on them since. Rears were done by the previous owner.

Hi, can you clarify something please. You mentioned above in answering another question that the owning garage who had the car from 2015-2022 did not carry out the servicing to the online Merc portal. I cannot see in the paperwork section any copies of paper receipts during this period either. So does that mean there is no paperwork to prove the vehicle was actually serviced during this period? I guess therefore does your big initial ownership bill actually really say the car was recommissioned after being virtually unused for the time it was in garage ownership?

Also, you mentioned above the car has wanted for nothing. Looking through the servicing work the rear discs and pads were reported as juddering and then mentioned at a later date as low. Were these subsequently done or are these being replaced prior to the new owner taking possession or should this required work along with the front suspension MOT advisories be therefore taken into account during bidding?

Thanks in advance and a lovely looking car! I am currently abroad otherwise would have gladly come to view hence the q’s!

I don't have any receipts for this period, so it depends on how much you trust dealers really (though it did come with a 6 month mechanical warranty)! The car was delivered to me with no service showing as due so the first one with me was a scheduled service, just a big one which included a gearbox service. Definitely not anything approaching recomissioning. As you can see from the invoice there wasn't any other work needed.

Hi again
All fair!
I didn't replace the rear discs, partly on the advice of the garage that there was plenty of life in them.
Also, the juddering stopped so I didn't feel a pressing need. Pads are low so you may want to factor them in (fortunately a standard Merc rather than AMG specific item). Likewise the wheel bearings. I've followed the advice of my local Merc/AMG guy rather than the MoT tester. When they might need doing will very much depend on use/mileage.
Ultimately both wear and tear items on any 15 year old car, but the reserve does reflect this.

Not a problem, and thanks, it is rather lovely! Low mileage certainly the lowest I've seen on the market) and superb condition.

Many thanks for responding so promptly. All noted, and as you say, part and parcel of “older” AMG ownership, so good to have the answers! Cheers

Could well be. I just close my eyes and hit enter when it comes to VED time. TBH there's probably a whole load of 4/6 cylinder stuff with half the power in the same bracket these days!

My 2005 325 Touring is the same price VED, and I'm pretty sure my previous 2003 Saab 93 Aero was too. On a 4 pot turbo 250bhp!
The VED bands are as much to do with year of manufacture as emissions, they make no sense at all, a bit like the ULEZ regulations.
