What happened in August 2023?

Hi,
Nothing happened. I just wanted the car to look as good as possible; hence the respray work. There were some scratches which wouldn't polish out. The paint shop described them as cosmetic wear and tear; but I wasn't happy with leaving them.

Hiya

Thanks for the info. Do you have any before/after photos of the respray?

When a boosted MX-5 has had paint across both front wings, both doors, the boot lid and rear bumper, you can imagine where a buyer's mind goes...

Also, the listing notes the offside headlight was previously replaced. What was the reason for that?

Thanks
James

Sorry, no photos. The bonnet was resprayed at the same time. The light unit was replaced prior to my ownership; along with all the BBR mods being carried out; as per the invoice; so I don't have any information on that.

I can tell you I have never tracked the car and was told by BBR, that it was never tracked before my ownership. Of course I completely understand why you're wondering about the respray work; and all I can say is I wanted it to look mint; to look as good as it goes. Machine Grey is a difficult paint to match; which is why I took it to Evolution Paintworks Carlisle. They did a fantastic job; as I hope comes across in the photos and video.

It is strictly a fair weather car and is garaged when not in use.

Thanks

This car is local to me! I had a good poke around it at a local car show and spoke to the owner about it, although it's a couple of summers ago now it was mint back then.

Great looking car.

Thanks PRO5T,

Was that at Dalemain? I am obsessive about my car! e.g. I managed two faint scratches on the ceramic coating on the boot; from the wash mitt I think; so asked Black Magic Carlisle to redo it for me lol.

Actually Lanercost-I haven't done Dalemain since I left the WMC, a good club let down by some pompous old fools. I actually haven't done Lanercost since either but I sold my 996 GT3 last year and lost a summer of fun. Your car looked great.

I recall discussing with you how good the car would be around the Nürburgring and you saying how you didn't track your cars so any potential buyers can assume it's led an easy life.

I wasn't aware we live in the same town as I don't recall seeing it about-I'm in a white 997 GT3 these days.

That was the last time Lanercost had a show. I think I remember you and your very loud race engine Porsche! 😅👍

Yes that was me! The new owner occasionally calls in with my old car and my goodness the noise! You never really understand until you hear it yourself when someone else drives.

Regardless, sorry for derailing the thread on your lovely car, best of luck with the auction-if you see me give me a wave.

Thanks for the additional detail! Sounds like a great car. I’ve had three turbo MX-5s but never an ND.

If you are able; it would be great to show you the car in person. Any inspection is more than welcome.

I don't know this car or the owner, but I've had several front end resprays on my cars over the years across the bumper, bonnet and wings due to being far too much of a perfectionist. NDs are very prone to stone chips, my 7k mile example has several and I'm trying to resist getting it painted...

What boot spoiler have you got fitted to this OP? Quite fancy a bigger one for me. Good luck with the sale!

Thank you. Its from Carbon miata. I asked Black Magic Carlisle to fit this for me; as it was necessary to remove ceramic coating from the area first and then reapply after, for a consistent finish.
