Hi there, thanks for providing the detailed history timeline.

I am doing my final due diligence using the recent MOT data and just wanted to clarify a few points before deciding whether to place a bid:

1. Brake System & Binding:
I notice that in March 2026, the car initially failed on a DANGEROUS advisory for a rear brake pad under 1.5mm, alongside advisories for both front service brakes binding.

Were the front calipers replaced or refurbished to cure the binding, or just freed off?

2. Oil Leak & Low Mileage:
The March 2025 MOT flagged an oil leak. Between that MOT and the March 2026 test, the car only covered 892 miles.

Has the source of this oil leak actually been repaired, or has it just not been driven enough since to trigger another advisory?

3. Subframe Corrosion:
The March 2026 MOT notes 'Front Sub-frame corroded'.

Given that Doctor MX5 worked on the car in 2024, did this subframe corrosion develop after their treatment, or did they advise it needed replacing?

4. Wheel Straightening:
Could you clarify if the two straightened alloy wheels were tracking/pothole related, or from a track excursion?

Many thanks
James

Hi James

Thank you for your interest in the car and for doing such thorough due diligence. Hopefully the below answers your questions:

1. Brake System & Binding

The rear brake pads were replaced. The front brakes, calipers were removed, cleaned, and refitted to successfully resolve the binding issue.

2. Oil Leak

The minor oil leak was traced back to the sump plug washer. We replaced both the washer and the plug itself, which completely resolved the issue.

3. Subframe Corrosion

The subframe corrosion note was new to this year's MOT and was verbally advised as minor surface corrosion only. Doctor MX5 explicitly noted that this was a very clean example when they worked on it, and it hadn't been flagged previously. Due to purchasing another car forcing the sale, I simply haven’t had the time to investigate or wire-brush it further.

4. Wheel Straightening

The wheel straightening took place under previous ownership back in 2022 so i do not know the exact cause. In my ownership I have never experienced any vibrations, balancing issues, or tracking problems.

I hope this helps with your decision, and please let me know if you have any other questions before the auction ends. Good luck if you decide to bid!
