I've been following this new kitcar for quite some time and really like what they've done with the Lancia D 24 inspired bodykit ...smile

New bodies will be released soon inspired by the 550 spyder and Jaguar D-type.

I'm definitely going to be keeping a close eye on the D-Type recreation.

I notice he's also dropped the Triumph chassis too.

Was this a barn find project?

The Triumph chassis suggests a kit designed at least thirty years ago, the styling is pretty but certainly not what most current designs aim for.

With a small front facelift it could be very pretty indeed and the lack of doors keeps the build simple.

Interesting.

I think it's a newly designed kit. The Triumph chassis is to allow the retention of the donor registration and tax-exempt status on cars old enough I believe.

I would love to see something like a Striker or Locost chassis used underneath instead. I know it would involve IVA and not be authentic period handling etc. but could be quite a tool.

I agree, it would be almost the complete opposite of the 2CV based one!

nice design, but must agree with furyblade about chassis, handling ....

here some controverse discussion about the sammio:

(certain things look really botched together...)

I quite like this & the ability to build it & not have to do the PITA IVA test attracts me. A herald chassis with a lighter body & a decent chassis set up (swing spring or Mk2 Vitesse & spax shocks etc. is going to handle pretty well. The engine bay is big enough to get a better engine & box in as well. The build could be done quite cheaply as well.
I keep looking at this & thinking mmmm if I sell the 944!

Well spotted I have also been watching the improvement in this product for some months.

I thought the Triumph connection was a dead duck and I am pleased its forgotten now and with a good steel tube chassis these could be quite outstanding.

Being old enough to have driven and owned various Heralds and Vitesses, Spitfires, GT6 cars in the 60's I learnt just how suspect the transverse rear was in these cars. By strapping iot down with SA&H fittings and loads of negative camber it was just possible to get the cars` round corners but the system was never suited to modern roads.

I will be buying one of these later to develop the kit into my next project.

No better recommendation really and damned good value.

If there were more hours in the day and I had less projects I would start now.

The D type special has a real classic look to it and given the right drive train etc I think these could prove quite outstanding both in handling, performance and looks.

The original Herald one is still available but there is a new one based on Reliant SE5, together with the D Type & Ferrari 410.
