Hoping someone on here may be able to help out with some advice.

Assuming it doesn't sell in the meantime, I'm off to look at a kit car this weekend that has a non-standard roll bar fitted - which means that the standard hood no longer fits.

Is there anyone out there who can cost-effectively fabricate a custom hood that would serve to keep the car dry(ish) if parked up or act as a "limp home" (or better) solution if rain breaks out?

(would just like to be able to take more risks when it comes to summer commuting)

Thanks in advance,
LT

Think there is a lady with a shop on eBay. They send you a pattern that you adjust, and they sew the finished item.

Soft bits for sevens also do custom jobs.

Most car trimmers will do a custom job for you, some charge a fortune and some don't, Years ago i had a custom hood and frame made for a 7 replica which looked better, was made from better material and above all else fitted better for a lot less money than the kit manufacturer.

Great - thank you.

I'll do a trawl of eBay to see if I can track that woman down but will post back if I buy the car in case anyone has any specific recommendations regarding other sources they've used.

http://www.softbitsforsevens.co.uk/ used to do custom kit.

(Never tried them myself, but they were always very helpful when I talked with them at Stoneleigh.)

Google Autotrim

Better or at least equal quality to softbits but about 1/3rd of the price.
