HI All,
Pick up my first Kit Car on Friday !!!! Its a Tiger Super CAt XL with a Zetec engine . After a bit of advice please chaps.
1. Reccomendations for insurance please. Have already phoned Adrian Flux.
2. Were can I buy some wet weather gear at what can I expect to pay?
3. The car was registered in 04 but runs is on an E plate. I'm assuming from the donor car. What are the rules regarding age related plates ?? For example could I put S22TGR on it ??
Thanks for your help chaps

1. ring round all the specialist insurers (buy a copy of one of the kit car magazines if you're not familiar with the players) - they seem to vary from year to year on who is most competitive, even with the same car and driver.
2. Speak to Tiger sportscars.
3. If it's registered on an age related plate, then the rules are as for normal cars; you won't be able to put a 'newer' plate than an E-reg on the car. The age of the plate is linked to what the DVLA assesses to be the date of manufacture of the car, not the date of first registration; as another example my imported Mazda Eunos is registered on a H plate to denote its year of manufacture (1991) not its date of first registration in the UK (1998).

First things first- Welcome to pistonheads.
Sam has already answered your questions well, so I can't add any more to that.
Where abouts are you based? Chester sports cars are quite a large tiger dealer so it may be worth asking them about wet weather gear if you are based in the north west area.
There's also quite a big following in the north west and north wales due to the dealer in chester.

Also worth having a chat with Soft Bits for Sevens - spoke to them last week about doing a tonneau for a Westie and they were most helpful (apparently they have a large stock of patterns already but are happy to customise) as needed.2. Weather kit might also come up via clubs too - the stuff that was originally with mine was sold when it went from conventional to aeroscreen.
