Guys,
Been looking around at engines, I notice you can pick up either of the above on ebay fairly cheaply with varying levels of mileage etc., but where's the best place for a zero mile crated version?

Cheers

In the absence of sensible suggestions so far www.mountune.com do a nice Duratech. No idea of prices but I figure it's not cheap.

Powertorque are the cheapest I found but last time I looked GBS were very competative on Zetec engines.

Thanks chaps.
Had looked at powertorque but the link to the engines on their site goes nowhere!
I'm guessing 'GBS' is Great British Sportscars (Robin Hood??).

Out of curiosity does anyone know if the Duratec (which was ford/mazda developed) will fit an MX5 gearbox??

Thanks again.

I'm led to believe it does fit the MX5 MK3 gearbox. I don't believe it'll fit anything older.

IIRC, Cosworth do crate Duratecs with up to 280bhp... won't be cheap though.

You could try Dunnell Engines.
He supplied my crate engine and then did a bit of work to it.
I wont lie, it wasn't cheap (him doing the work, although the crate engine was the same ish price what others were asking) but I am very pleased with the results.

Some find him a bit difficult to talk to though.

You could try Environ in Chelmsford. They are actually a department of Ford. They take all the bits that don't make it down the production line ! If a vehicle isn't correct, they take it off the production line and send all the OK bits to Environ for re-cycling. Mind you, you may have to go through a friendly Ford dealership as I don't think they actually deal with the public.

I went through a guy at the Ford dealership in Great Yarmouth, he has advertised crated Zetec engines at silly money (£550) in the kit car press. When I was there they had stacks of Zetecs. My Duratec wasn't crated as such, but it was obviously new although it had been run. I'm guessing mine came out of a car that failed the final test. My Duratec also cost a bit more than the Zetecs I quoted (£1400)
