Good grief, the cheek of it...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/V5-LOG-BOOK-AND-VIN-PLAT...

He's obviously not worried about the legalities, and what made me laugh was his ignorance of the clear statement on the front of the V5...

And you can't even report it through ebay.

Who ever buys it is obviously going to be guilty of ringing.

There was a police email address posted in SP&L a while ago to which you can report should you so wish.

Dont even need the VIN plate, as you can punch your own.
Not sure of the ringing aspect. It is a Q & can be made up of bits of different cars anyway. As an MOT is needed anyway, the only thing avoided is the IVA test. So no different to a car pre IVA/SVA.

Yes it is different. It's clearly intended to allow someone to ring a car or circumvent the rather more stringent IVA process - whether or not people think that IVA is disproportionate is irrelevant, the fact of the matter is that it is a requirement.

It's the poor bugger who buys the car later, has an accident, and then discovers the car was on the road illegally that I feel most sorry for.

Not completely - it doesn't have enough original parts to collect the points needed to retain identity, but that is very very difficult to prove.

Hi could you please post a link to the law detailing how much of a car has to be sold with the chassis and the v5 to be legal ?
I am aware of the law RE kits/radically altered vehicles and retaining the donor reg through the points system but it dosent apply here as the chassis would be built up to its original spec (as far as we can tell ?)
