How much can it handle reliably please?

Its not so much the power, rather than the load, whats the approx weight of the vehicle its driving forward ?

Unless you forgot to mention you were running on slicks that will be no problem.
At 250hp and 400kg you will just spin the wheels thereby releaseing the load on the diff.

you should be fine with 250bhp+
lots of the sprint cars are using the sierra diffs with 250-300bhp and neevr seem to have problems.
Also cosworths running 400-500bhp have no problem with them, and they are 1000kg+
Half shafts will probably break first, as Im very aware of!

That happened to me, too with just an R1 in front. Sheared through just under the inner cv boot circlip. I put it down to poor machining creating a notch.

im knocking on 300 turbo horses, with uber soft 10.5" wide hillclimb slicks and cant break them! even the ford driveshafts stand the hardest of launches in a circa 800kg car. 250hp and 400kg wont even make it sweat imho

You'd probably still be ok with the lighter 7" diff, plenty of big power 7's running them.

am on a 7" with 450hp and 600kgr with no prob so far smile
