I'd like to hire a kit car
Discussion
Hi all,
I am looking for some info on how I can hire a kit car for a personal event in the new year. I realise this is quite a specific request but I am looking for owners of the sporty/modern looking kit cars as opposed to the Caterham 7 types.
So, if you are an owner of a Lamborghini/Ferrari/ replica or mean looking kit car and wouldn't mind hiring your car to me for a day or two for an agreed rate, then please get in touch.
I'm really into my cars and would just like the one off experience of driving something a little unusual.
Many thanks
Jonty

Hi Paul, thanks for your response.
I've had to create a new username as I was having trouble with my old one.
Unfortunately it's not a case of it being easier for me to go and hire the real deal, it's more to do with the cost of £700 + per day to hire one.
By all means I am prepared to pay someone a nice amount of money to hire their car for a couple of days, just not quite £700 per day that the genuine supercars go for. If any owners are interested we can discuss details further.
Look forward to hearing from you!

It is VERY unlikely that anyone has 'hire and reward' as use of their kit car on their insurance policy.
That's why I suggested that going to an established hire company would be the best way. If you go to a hire company, they will enquire about your age, experience, claims, convictions etc. And they will want to know what use you have in mind for the car. If you are less than squeaky clean, then either the supercar hire gets more expensive or impossible.
So, how do you think a private owner of a loved car is going to feel about letting you out of sight with it? What sort of deposit did you have in mind?

Lets be honest Leg, should an MR2 in Lambo drag really cost the same as hiring the real deal? ...
I'm willing to pay £250 per day to hire the vehicle from the owner for 2-3 days. I can then pay "X" amount to insure separately on a short term kit car policy if they don't already have 'hire and reward'.
I'm also happy to give the owner a £1200 refundable deposit upfront. I can't be fairer than that.
If it puts anyone's mind at ease, I'm extremely anal with other peoples possessions as I am with my own. My TT is known by my friends as 'The OCD Mobile' whilst my neighbors often tell me "You'll wash the paint away" as I pamper it so much!
My licence is squeaky clean, no accidents, claims or convictions.
That's what I am able to offer and am happy to talk with anyone who may be interested.
Thanks
