.50 cal MG is optional.

I reckon a caterham chassis could work, couldnt it?

Are you seriously thinking of it? If so you want to get a UVA fugitive..... based on old VW running gear, but easy enough to fit any engine in the rear... lots have V8s etc. Normally go for £1500-£4000 depending on condition

Have a look at kits.... a couple of companies do this type of vehicle.
Build it - IVA it for road use - do mods.

You can buy ex military ones from a company in the uk.
Google ex military vehicle sales or something similar.

They were used by UKSF.

Watch this years DAKAR Rally and you will see a few Buggies of a similar design. Have you seen the Race of Champion? If not, they have a nice buggy racer.

Basically these are "rails" or "sand rails" I'm certain if you put that into a search engine you will find something like these. You could start on a VW Beetle site as these grow from them be used as beach buggies.

this is a 'sand rail'....

friend of mine had one when i worked in NY of all places ....

it was seriously quick, and seriously fun (in the dry) lol !!!!
