Hi all.

Any suggestions for suitable body conversion donors? In the same way the Mr2 is a great donor since it strips down easily are there any other good potential donors? 2 door coupe type?

Specifically looking for cars suitable for body conversion rather than donor cars for parts. So that the relatively modern mechanicals could be conserved along with possibly interior. I appreciate most will ask what the replica is but just looking at ideas at the moment.

Cheers.

A modern donor is very unlikely to have a separate chassis so you will need to design and manufacture a chassis to take the donor parts.
I suspect that is not the body swap you had in mind. You cannot modify the donor monocoque.

Thought that you might get a few more replies to this so I waited a bit before chipping in...

Depending on what your thinking of 4*4, pre war style, track day etc. there are quite a few suitable donors still out there with relatively modern running gear (coming from the perspective of a bloke who's daily is '71 and toy is '36). Most of the weekend Warrior/Hi Lux trucks have full chassis and could be considered for a chunky offroader. The original Reliant Scimitar GTE can be picked up for peanuts and lends itself to several styles. The later Scimitar SS1 was a cracking little sports car with a variety of running gear inc. a turbo Nissan lump - ugly car, excellent chassis and cheap. TVRs, Marcos etc turn up crashed bashed and neglected and if you really want a cheap donor for a body swap...try looking for a chassis built kit that has seen better days...

For inspiration, the following is a (correctly registered) Scimitar GTE...

And this is a Ford Ranger

Not suggesting these are exactly what you want but might help give ideas.
