How difficult is it to match a 2.0l zetec to a type 9 sierra gearbox.

is is difficult to wire in the ecu into the wiring loom of a robin hood?

The gearbox will just bolt up to the engine.

What ECU are you thinking? If you are thinking standard Ford injection it will be the inlet plenum you will have trouble fitting under the bonnet.

Have a look on Locost builders there is loads of info on engine fitting there.

I had a type-9 on a 2L Zetec in my Tiger. As said it bolts straight on but the normal 2L clutch will not work - you will need a different clutch kit and release bearing, and possibly a new spigot bearing (worth replacing anyway).

A quick PH search lists the following info:
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?f=30&...

QH
Friction Plate C1189AF
Pressure Plate Q10065
Release Bearing CCT133

Ford
Friction Plate 93BG-7550-AA
Pressure Plate 93BG-7563-AA

LUK
Friction Plate 322 0259 10
Pressure Plate 122 0154 10

Hope these are correct.

Also, you will end up with a gap on the bellhousing as the starter motor is in a different place, so you'll need to make an ali cover to prevent muck and stones entering the hole. I forgot to do that until the engine was in the car and it was a pig to do at that stage, so remember to do that before fitting it all.

"you will end up with a gap on the bellhousing as the starter motor is in a different place"

Cant remember that on mine. Just was a tight squeeze & had to get a good starter for reliability.

I ended up with a Brise unit & it came with the correct size spacer to.

Maybe it wasn't the starter then, but there was a large gap underneath into the end of the bellhousing that required a plate to cover it up.

I am currently trying to get my type 9 and zetec together (older type with cast rocker cover, silvertop I believe) but I end up with this, how have people solved this? Do you just make up plates?

yes you could make something up, personally i dont as i have a sump guard that extends back to the bellhousing and which keeps the crud out of the bottom ......
