Okay so I have bought a special to finish and it has a turbo'ed MX5 lump and the car is a sevenesque round tube jobbie.
It has an Erl water injection kit supplied with it and although I know cars go best in the wet and WW2 fighter planes used it.
Do any of you know much about it?

used to keep the air inlet charge cool and save melting pistons, cruder than a fully mappable ecu set up 100% to suit the compression/boost but sometimes the only option when you havent got room for a chargecooler or intercooler. ideally you want a decent size tank for your water/methanol mix, speak to richard lamb at ERL or one of his guys, very knowledgable people. ideally get an inlet air temp gauge fitted to see what the car runs. i used to run the display light system that erl sell to show actual flow through the water jet, to prove its working. you will drop a little power if water injection is used to just cool the charge, some people will then remap and advance the timing a little to get back the lost power, i dropped about 8-10bhp on a previous car but the inlet charge went from 70c to 35c with it, and a slight tweak to the timing map got some power back, but you are then ultra reliant on it working perfectly on boost so be careful
