Morning,

In the past I've made up some towing points for my westfields but I want something up and running sooner rather than later.

Can anyone recommend any ready made towing points/eyes for kit cars please? Ideally I'm looking for something that will clamp on to square section steel that will provide an attachment for a strap.

I don't really want to drill a hole for a rivnut as I don't think it would be that strong and could potentially weaken the chassis member I drill in to... is this a correct assumption?

I know that if I end up in a gravel trap I can get towed out by the roll cage but I'm looking for something mainly at the front so I could be winched up on to a trailer for recovery if required.

Thanks,

Mark

On my phoeinix I made twome tow eyes from flat plate 1/4 inch,by 5 inch, with a 4 inch hole then cut a tail around 2 inches wide so it looked like this, 0-. In the back one I drilled two holes in the 'tail' to take a big U bolt and clapmed to the axil, the front one I hooked around the fron chassi upright and then bolted it back to itself, so it claamed around the upright and the bolt had no tension just used to locate it on the upright, I had it so it run out beside the radiotor and you hooked into it throught the from grill.
No mods to the chassie, and all home made, both worked fine. now I have full cage so I tow of that.

I made some similar ones for my last westfield but out of sheer laziness I was hoping to buy some.

I'll get the tools out at the weekend wink

Cheers,

Mark

I had one of the alloy ones and found it bent slightly if you did not tow dead straight on.

I have some of these now, nice and cheap and MSA approved. Come in different lengths and colours.
