fisher fury build cost
Discussion
I didn't keep a log of what I spent but somewhere between 10-11k. I didn't scrimp on some bits though (Wilwwod brakes and Compomotive wheels for example) but also got quite a few bits at trade prices.
Fury cars are here...

I think there's links to some builds on there but this is probably the best build site...

cheers, i was hoping it would be a bit les than that really (without compromising on spec - i want it all lol)
for that money id buy a decent elise
If you looked around google for five minutes you would find that most people building reasonable roadster kits spend minimum 8k and up to 15k and beyond. Just add up the cost of a simple Zetec installation for example.for that money id buy a decent elise
If you want a cheap roadster buy a recently finished one for less than the build cost. That situation may change gradually as the supply of good quality kits dries a bit as the overhead and hassle of IVA puts more and more people off building their own.
Apologies for dragging up an old thread, but I've started rebuilding my Fury and have created a blog to document it - www.projectfisher.co.uk
I'm trying to put costs in where relevant and am planning on doing a summary page at some point with total costs of build and it reminded me of this post. Hopefully someone may find it useful in future.

I think the figures already quoted are not far off the mark.
I built a Fury a few years back and it cost approx £10k for a road going, full screen and doors with Zetec engine (that was when a good 2l Zetec from a scrappers was £1200!) with mostly standard stuff on it, that included every last nut and bolt, fluid, SVA fee etc.
I guess if you found a Sierra donor and used every bit from that including engine then £6-7k maybe possible.
If you like the shape then have you had a look at the Sylva Vectis - from the same designer but rear engine with a MGF single donor, this has a reported build price of £6k+ - article in one of the mags this month.

Budget £10k and give yourself some contingency. I ended up spending £19k on my old pinto Dax rush, just to give you an idea how costs can escalate. Just as a side note, my rush didn't squeak or rattle half as much as any Elise I've driven!
My Fury I bought 2nd hand was a race built bike engined car running the blade setup - built in 2005 by the then kitcar workshop, it was reputed to be one of the more expensive fury's of all time at around the £35k mark! I raced the car for three years, and loved every bit of it.
Go for a bike engined fury if you want one, and talk to Andy Bates of AB racing about engine options.
It is a massive shame that IVA has put yet another nail in the coffin of a once thriving industry - maybe consider a trackday only car and have some fun where the car will safely perform to its full potential

I've got a spreadsheet listing all the parts and costs that went into my Fisher Fury R1. Email me if you want a copy.

Seems strange. I can't see how you would have thought it would be less than that? Look at the Raw Striker, a well advertised offer where they offer a complete package with everything you need including a new crate Zetec for, IIRC, 12k ish. A good value price - so a Fury won't be any less by the time you have added everything up.for that money id buy a decent elise
My Dax Rush will end up costing that plus maybe a little more.
Now an Elise is a nice car, i've had one, but very very different to a Fury - and they fulfil different roles.

I sold my Lotus Elise and built a Fury R1. Very different cars. My Fury is nearly half the weight of an Elise and has much more power (than base the model). The Elise is a brilliant car but no where near as good at going around corners, due to a very different weight distribution. It is a lot easier to drive the Fury faster and it is much more forgiving when you over do it. I would need an Elise with a supercharged Honda conversion to keep up with me in the Fury ;-)
just noticed a 2 year old thread of mine replied to, thanks for the input guys, i decided to go back to an older car i loved back in the day, so I'm currently building a mk2 golf - with 4wd and a 20v engine.
One day i would loved to build a car from a kit, i never seem to find one that suits the needs at the time, but maybe after the golf is finished ill build a nice quick track biased car.
cheers
