I'm thinking of buying a 7 type car for fun and track days. I like blistering acceleration so I'll probably be looking for a powerful engine. I'm not too bad with engines having spent a lot of time around and inside many bikes, including a season of racing. But I don't really know cars that well, I've owned and driven plenty but if they break they go into the garage.

Any advice on buying a caterfield without ending up with a dog would be greatly appreciated....

TIA
Rich

Commission a new build from one of them and specifyu a brand new engine, that way a) it's less likely to go wrong and b) you've got a guarantee if it does. And of course join one of the breakdown company's if you're that worried, RAC, AA etc, there's a couple of dowzen to choose from

Thanks, that's probably the perfect method of avoiding all risk. I'm quite happy to drop in the deep end though, but I want to be able to drive what I buy not fix it all the time smile I do want to take advantange of the value of a used variant.
