There's another MX-5 based kit in development - a practical Exocet!

I'm looking forward to seeing how this one evolves.

Sorry Jeff, we hoped the name would not offend. I registered the trade mark name Exocet as it fits with the MEV range of Missile, Sonic7, Rocket, Atomic etc. Hopefully no one from Hiroshima or Nagasaki will complain to the makers of the Atom. Incidentally, the Harley Davidson story says they named a bike Fat Boy to ensure the Japanese did not copy it. The bombs were named Fat man and Little boy. Not in very good taste, but perhaps that was all rubbish being talked.
Kit Cars answer to CKC's project X then...
Gotta say I found the vid fascinating. Your fabrication skills and ability to translate what you visualise is bloody impressive, well to me at any rate!
Hate to say it but styling is a bit meh to me - the cycle wings seem at odds to the shape the nipped in waist body. How much better would this look if the wings were incorporated into the main body panel - would give a nicely agressive blistered arch look with those sharp edges (which dont currently continue in the cycle wing style). I guess 944 would be a recerence for enclosed wings - that sweep in and out thang. Not trying to be critical just offering some (entirely novice) thoughts!

He just keeps building new and intresting projects and glad that people like stuart are bringing something new to the kit car market i will reserve judgement till it's finally built. But after picking my exocet kit up last friday both my father and i really liked the superlight X5 so that could possibly be our next project but have to build the exocet first.
But if i were to design a new kit car something similar to a gtm libra would be what i would go for something you can drive every day there doesn't seem to be anything on the market (apart from the vortex coupe which is a nice looking car) but mayby there isn't the market in that now as you can get boxters, elises for under 10k now.

Hard to believe it's 30 years ago.
We chose the name Exocet as it is an EXO car sold as a SET of parts, how corny is that!
At least it stands for fun now.

I know I shouldn't be that sensitive about it but it is the 30th anniversary and I lost a number of mates to Exocet missiles. Just bad timing I guess.
You are right Smash, I don't like the wings either, but they were hanging around, I will have to experiment with different shapes. I tend to find offering something up is the best way to get a feel for it. I prefer to spend time on the tools rather than on a PC or with a pencil.

Not sure about gullwing doors, I did that on my 4x4 and it was a real pain, love the Nova and Bond bug canopies though. The style is changinf all the time right now, I have gone to GRP mould stage on the rear but I am still chopping the sides about.

Here's hoping it gets gullwing doors or some kind of nova style pop-up roof - would be eyecatching to say the least.....

Hmm. How to Design and Build a Sports Car.
First, you take one perfectly designed and built sports car, and then you do er, what with it?
Get rid of the heavy body with it's effeminate styling and replace with something light and modern looking. Was that not obvious from the video?First, you take one perfectly designed and built sports car, and then you do er, what with it?
We weighed the chassis yesterday, quite a respectable 54kgs. Now the plans are over at the structural engineers, he uses software called Robot Millennium with a 3d framework program to check all components/junctions and puts in through a torsional rigidity test as part of his finite element analysis, this system numerically calculates deformation under applied variable loads.
I will sit on the edge of my seat awaiting his recommendations, very rarely does he say "perfect first time"
