There are a number of budding designers posting ideas on the Kit Car sections. I would pick up on the opportunity you are offering and try a few.

Whether enthusiasm alone will be sufficient to attract interest from designers, is an interesting question. It is for me, but I build kit cars for fun have done for well over 40 years. Money from kit Cars is not my game. Accountancy did that most adequately. I just build kit cars because I enjoy the projects and challenges. Immensely satisfying when you are mad. I am.

There are some very good designers coming out from UK academies now and very few jobs for said designers. If you made your post a touch more interactive and suggestive of opportunities I think you might get some interest. Something along the other posts seeking new kit cars ideas might suit. Possibly offering the opportunity to try new materials for the body shape or other some other USP which might produce a car you want to build, and they want to design.

The bare something for nothing approach is just that. Bare. I do think some form of recognition that the designer needs to at least feel involved and part of a project and feel a decision maker in the process could help As could breaking new ground: always attractive to car men.

Good luck to you, anyway.

Is this a genuine request? I apologise if it is, but your brief description is a little limited. What sort of funding are you willing to put into such a project?

When you say “design”, anyone can draw a great looking project, but that’s the easy part. Designing a kitcar is completely different to a production car. YouTube is full of people with limitless imagination, but in reality they can never be a functional car.

Are you looking for someone who can design and engineer a complete package, ready for kits to be made?

A colleague of mine used a college or university, it provided the student with a final year project.

I have know cases of both where the service provided has been outstanding. Depends on the motivation of the individuals. Motivation is a very interesting and complex subject.

But there has to be some meeting of minds and other bits. Hence my earlier suggestion of bringing the prospective designers into the process to engender some feelings of ownership and involvement leading to a sense of the designer being valued. I will not address the other proposal for the avoidance of unseemly matters.

It's an interesting issue. People will generally only put the effort in if there is some decent track record, funding or if the people involved really bond and gel.

I have done some work in the past for free for a few small companies. But there has always been something that i could get out of it. Regular meetings with clients and visiting facilities etc are deffinately a must. If you are a one man band you really do need to do some legwork here yourself. Telling someone to go wild really isnt the way about it.

You need to do some research. What do you want to do? FWD, RWD engine layout, occupant numbers and style of vehicle etc etc. If you say you don't like it, but don't know why, no one could possibly improve or change the design to your needs!

Im not into doing projects for free any more/at the moment, but it might be worth aproaching a university that does a car/transport design course, but you will need to provide some wort of a solid written brief, otherwise you will be laughed out of the building.
