Modifications. How far before a new IVA is needed?
Discussion
I've just picked up a Blackbird-engined Dax Rush and am looking to do a bit of tinkering, but I'm wondering if any of the things I'm looking at will cause issues with SVA/IVA.
The fuel tank is a tiny bike tank (currently lives under the dash) which I'd like to replace with something more suited for touring, traditionally placed behind the driver, under the luggage area. The mechanic I spoke to posed the question of whether or not this would require a new IVA? That hadn't occurred to me so I thought I'd ask someone a bit more experienced (that's you guys then).

For a change like you're suggesting then it's not required.
Technically, an IVA would only be required if there were modifications to the chassis. As there's no record of exact design when the car was IVA/SVA'd, then who's to know whats been changed? As a result you can modify it however you like as long as it fits the general description on your V5. Turn it into a rear engined 4 seater and you'll have problems, but as long as it's a front engined, 2 seater sports, DAX Rush you're free to hack it about as much as you like.

I agree with AdiT on the changes not going as far as modifying the chassis.
However, the IVA rule that the fuel tank must be separate from the passenger compartment is valid and for good reason so if you do move the tank it would be as well to separate it with a bulkhead or sealed compartment.
