Build your own super car book
Discussion
The Book is generally a good read, with plenty of photos and diagrams, but the author started off with a prototype car mocked up for the TV advertising industry, so it mainly covers the modification of the early TV prototype. (A Russian super car for an insurance add)
Hence it doesn’t really cover chassis build or suspension, engine tuning and modifying; however it does cover a lot of fibre glassing and internal dash making, headlights, doors etc. with plenty of photo’s.
So really it’s “1/3 how to build your own supercar” you’ll need to buy another 2 books, one on chassis/suspension design and another on engine/gearbox modifications, such as I did.
To sum up; not a bad book, but it’s more for “looks” rather than engineering, which in places are a little questionable. Hope this helps.

Good stuff thanks for the detailed reply. I have a number of suspension, chassis and fibreglass books and then saw this on Amazon for a bargain 6.99 and it mentioned fixtures and fittings like windows, mirrors etc and wondered if it added anything extra on top of the strictly theory books I.e. more depth on integrating the various sub-parts of a car.
Sounds like it might be worth a read then as long as I set my expectations low!

I bought it and read it as the titled appealed...
With another 20 or so suspension/ chassis/ design books in my collection, this wasn't a great addition.
As the other poster noted; you couldn't really take this book and actually/ design/ build anything. It is more one guys account of his journey from taking a non-working mock-up (effectively) and putting it on the road, finished.
I haven't read it in years and may even have given it away. Something like the Kimini book on Lulu is a more technical account of building a car from scratch.

Hey buddy! Long time, no speak!Could you list out the worthy books, preferably ebooks, a car build is still on my bucket list.
Life is pretty hectic at the moment - literally packing up in SG and moving to the US; back to Houston. Rachael is a Yank and she has family in Dallas and Arkansas and, at our age/ time of life, it makes sense to be near family in case we want to pop sprogs out and the UK wasn't as good an option.
still have our place in London and we WILL be back in the next couple of years but for now, Houston just makes sense and I have a good job waiting for me there. London from August 20th to catch up with family and get my work visa and then over the pond in September.
Honestly - Since I have none of my books with me, this list is just a selection off the top of my head (interestingly, the first 5-10 pages of "Customers who bought items in your Recent History also bought" was actually very good though the books on the later pages weren't great:

Some of my best/ favourite books have been rare/ old that I've found whilst trawling book shops, all round the world - so I can't remember their names! I need to find in which country I have them all stored and have another read as I suspect I have forgotten almost everything! Some of these books are highly repetitive and in 100 pages there may only be one new/ interesting paragraph but I enjoy reading it all

The simple answer to what to read is always "buy anything and everything written by Caroll Smith" and go from there.
