Vinyl stripes and vinyl front number plate...

Concensus of opinion wanted... I intend to fit a vinyl front number plate on the Cob, but also intend to have stripes applied at some point. So, am thinking if it is usual to simply apply a vinyl number plate OVER stripes, or affix the plate first and cut the stripes AROUND the plate when the time comes. I'm thinking if the plate was placed on top of stripes, the stripes would show underneath the plate, but not sure?

The stripes will show through the number plate.

Best to cut them round the plate
