Over the odds? I've heard good things about the company - nice blokes - but don't want to pay more than I should. Car is in great condition and drives very well. At 6'4" I don't fit in most variants.
Thanks for any advice.

I don't think that outrageous if you are getting some sort of warranty with it. I don't recall many V8 powered Cobras being advertised under £13k private sale, they always seem to hold their money well.
And if that car lost the bumpers and coated the exhausts and rollbars black, I'd love it!

Thanks so much for the replies. £14k seems the consensus - as THT are lowering the seat for me and providing warranty, new service, new MOT and a whole heap of chop and change options I reckon a little more than that would be ok (for an extra £500 they'll even put in a 4.2 litre rover unit with 280hp but I'm uncertain as to whether this is a good idea despite being a bargain). I'll try to split the difference when I go tomorrow.
Quite like the retro bumpers - I guess we are all different. Gonna lose most of the stickers though...

Thanks mate.
Gonna go and view this one tonight which is better value:

Question: I know the law regarding black plates with silver typefaces but in the case of a retro looking car like this, how likely am I to actually be stopped by the police? Afterall, it looks older than 1973 or whatever the cutoff is...

I doubt you will get stopped for that only unless the police are bored, only a small fine or none and told to change it asap. I have had NO front number plate for 3 years, I wouldn't worry :-)
- I am just a sucker for the genuine race Cobra look, no chrome bits and no bumpers, but that's just my take on what a cobra should be. I realize I am in the minority when I see how many are blinged up, if you like the car then go for it it looks good for a cheaper one. My mum and husband have a very tidy green V8 Sumo they paid 10k for last year, but it was an eBay job and it had a suspected dodgy gearbox . It's not an outrageous price on my opinion, they are a business and have to make a living!! And I'd always pay for the more powerful engine especially at £500!
