For those that might be interested, there’s a detailed ‘Blog’ that’s been started by Stuart Mills on the Build of the MEVster Demo Car over on the MEV Owners Forum:- http://www.mevowners.proboards.com/index.cgi?board... Should be quite useful for those considering building one next year.

The car is ready for action, but the weather is not ideal!

I was never a fan of it in white but it looks a hell of a lot better in that colour could be my next build. Keep up the work.

I'm afraid i'm not liking the wheels that much.

I love the rest of the car though. biggrin Looks so much different from the norm.
Will this new car come with any type of wet weather gear?

A question for Stuart.
How does your side repeater fair in IVA?
Cars we have submitted with repeaters in that position fail on the 'visibility to rear' of 5 degrees out and 5 degrees down as this is obstructed by the rear wheel/arch. A stupid rule I know.

I'm not Stuart, but I'll add my 2pennorth if I may...
Surely once a viewer is in a position where their line of sight is obstructed by the rear wheel arch, then they are able to see the light from the indicator on the rear of the car!!! A meaningful rule only if the rear indicator isn't there or is faulty!

As I said it may be a stupid rule but the visibility rule applies to each lamp irrespective of being able to see others.

I like the build thread smile

Just out of interest how much fuel does the tank take?

It is not possible to tell from the photo if the side repeaters are correctly positioned but they may require extending out on a silly piece of plastic tube for the test.

The wheels are of course a personal choice so please feel free to "cut and paste" any others.

The tank is 24 litres, or about 160 mile range @34 mpg. Those requiring a longer range can opt to relocate the battery and fit dual tanks. I prefer to fill up every 100 miles or so on long runs, it gives the public a chance to ask what the car is.

Just got to finish the roof mould and then fit a demister. I have found these amazing little electric units which are included in the kit price.

Thanks it is bigger than it looked to me in the photos smile
I find I usually need a break every hundred miles in a Seven anyway.

IVA passed first time this morning, no issues apart from minors such as angle of FOG light and a flat beam headlight that was not flat due to poor quality bulb.
Looking forward to a decent drive in our demo car, if the snow ever goes. The poor guys at the IVA test station spent ages getting the snow pile form the door. Well done chaps.

I'd be interested to know what those "amazing little electric" demisters are about - could they double as a heater?

It's something I might be interested in for my Minari - I don't need a demist function because I got a heated screen, but it might be worth looking at as a simple option for a fan & heater for the cabin. (Rather than faffing with the Alfa heater which, by all accounts, isn't that great anyway!)
