I'm seeking advice on the registration of kits.

The kit I plan to build uses an XJ6 / Sovereign donor. I understand that by using a complete donor with a live V5 I can be issued an age-related plate after the IVA. But what will the new V5 say? If I want it to be registered as a Jaguar, am I limited to Jaguar donors, or can I consider a Daimler?

It will be registered as the kit that has been used. (Chassis/Body)
Dax for example if you are building a Dax Cobra using an XJ6 as a donor.
If you are building something like a RAM C type then the make will be RAM.

HTH.

ETA.
Or maybe CJR (As the make) for example of building one of the XKSS replicas

Cheers Dave. You've just doubled my pool of donors.

Just to pick up on this point.
The only way your new car would be registered as a Jaguar would be if you had retained the donor chassis (or monocoque).

Ah, I see. No, it will be a new chassis, with engine & running gear from Coventry. I am quite happy for it to be registered as either the kit manufacturer or a Jag, just not as a Daimler. It just doesn't seem to fit with a sports car (no offence to Dart lovers everywhere)

It will have the kit manufacturer's name.

Although some people register their car as:

'Lamborghini Replica XXXX' where XXXX is the REAL manufacturer so that the tax disc has just the Lambo bit as it's all that fits. These people are a bit sad though in my opinion. smile
