As dodgy as the title sounds its a genuine and legitimate inquiry.

My donor MX5 had covered 140,000miles. I had planned on using the original instrument cluster, which showed this mileage, but wasnt keen on the green dials so i was going to change them for black ones. During the build i also managed to damage the clear perspex front and after pricing up black dials it turned out much cheaper just to buy a replacement (second hand) unit, which i did.

So after a browse on ebay a replacement cluster was found and bought. This arrived a few days later, happy days.

I noticed straight away that this cluster is showing 90,000miles. Ive kept all the service history for my donor MX5 showing the correct mileage and have no plans on trying to pull a fast one regarding the lower mileage. However would this cause any problems come IVA time?

No. It makes no difference at IVA... or for registration with DVLA.

Donor clocks on my car came from a Hayabusa. I had had the clocks zero'd before SVA.

Rush was put on a new plate and had around 10 miles on it when it became road legal. Sorted!

As has been said the best route would be to zero the clock then there can be no confusion.
It will then be about zero for its new registration as a kitcar and you have evidence of the donor mileage for anyone who may need to know.

Can the reducing of the mileage by done by myself or will i need to take it to someone with the adequate software? if so how much would i be likely to pay for it?
