I have to agree, looks like the sort of thing I could be interested in, a good alternative to the Fury/Phoenix/Stylus/Tiger GTA style of cars.

In effect it is an MK Indy with a body, you can even convert an Indy to an HSR quite easily IIRC. So I would suggest the most cost effective solution, unless you are into building from sratch, is to pick up a SH Indy and dropping the HSR body on top.

Have you also seen this - http://www.thruxtongt.co.uk/joomla16/ - a slightly more expensive version that has been designed from scratch. And then there is the Sebring stable, more classic with bigger engines and a much bigger price tag. http://www.sebringinternational.co.uk/

I am building a Thruxton. It is being featured in Complete Kit car and is also on the Thruxton site.
The Thruxton V8 demonstrator was featured in Total Kitcar this month.

The Thruxton is much more resolved than the MK offering in terms of body fit and finish. The chassis is also designed for the car with various engine options (V8, V6, Turbo 4 pot, Supercharged Mazda) and Lightweight or standard.

Jim Walker has been very helpful with parts and advice. Advice that was invaluable as I have gone with MX5 Engine and gearbox.

The body has been designed so it will fit over other chassis with minimal alteration. I believe there is someone fitting a body to a Haynes roadster.

Let me know if you need more info.

Mine was just general interest really, but thanks for the links and info chaps. The day will come when I build a kit car from scratch, but not just yet. I am enjoying researching and looking around ATM. I hope to go to Stoneleigh this year for a good look round

Can the thruxton be had with a screen and wipers? They're a must for me...

I would love to see progress on this. The build thread on the Thruxton website is very interesting indeed. Any idea when you will have it on the road?

Hi

Soon I hope. I am waiting for the IVA date at the moment.

Plan is to have it on the road by the end of the month.

As soon as it is road legal I can fit the supercharger and get it mapped ready for a couple of track days before the annual trip to Zolder in August!

If you actually came and had a look you would see it was finished! biggrin

You could also take that gearbox before I fall over it again.
