Day out in a Lomax
Discussion
Just thought I'd post up a tale of joy...
An old friend of mine died last year. Amongst his automotive belonging were some nice 'bikes and his beloved Lomax. A BRG 3-wheeled version which had sat in a damp shed for nearly a year due to his infirm state. His secretary is a friend of mine and put his widow in touch with me when the decided to get rid of it which I offered to do as a favour with an eye on Stoneleigh to advertise it. As it required a Class 3 (?) MOT, I had to take it to Colchester (about 15 miles) and asked his (now) ex-secretary along as she had never been in it despite him offering a couple of times.
On the day of the booking the sun shone and the Lomax started!! I took the scenic route to keep off the main roads and a bit of A12 and round the corners the little thing hung on for dear life with fairly heavy steering. It was the brakes that frightened me, though... they needed quite a push to work and if you pushed REALLY hard, the front end shook a bit!!
Well....
It passed with flying colours and once out of town I let my passenger drive. She loved it. Found the upside down 2CV gearchange a challenge, but managed..though drove in third much of the time. With hindsight this may have been a mistake as with just a mile to go before reaching my industrial unit....we ground to a fuel-less halt!!!
Fortunately, my partner had just finished a cylinder fit and brought a gallon from the unit!
I have a local guy interested so it may not need advertising, but at the sort of price they go for it's an absolute steal in smiles-per-pound!!
PS Thanks enormously to slomax for his help and advice.

Hurrah!
They are an absolute hoot and excellent VFM! Glad she passed first time!
ps, you know when you're pushing it when you get the inside wheel up around a corner
I have some go-pro footage of me pushing it around some lanes i need to upload to youtube when i get chance
pps- are they drums or disks?
ETA- (i cant remember if i said this in the emails, but i was going to) those wheels are unusual- are they pressed steel or just trims over the standard CV wheels? they are usually solid with no holes/cut-outs in them
