Hi guys,

I have an early seiw Westfield, I think it's a 1992. Some of the bodywork is looking a little worse for wear, there's cracking in the gel coat and small cracks and holes where things have been moved over the years. I am mainly interested in a new Scuttle because there used to be a windscreen with wipers which was removed and there are numerous holes and marks over it, and also the nose cone as I would like to change the indicators leaving even more holes.

My question is, is there anywhere I can buy replacement panels for such an old model, or am I stuck with getting a bodyshop to repair the fibreglass then getting them to try and match the paint to the original gel coat?

I must admit I haven't. I looked on their website, but haven't actually called up and spoke to a person. Kind of assumed with it not been on the website and the car being so old that it would be a lost cause.

I did a bit of a refurb on our '91 vintage SEiW last year and wanted a replacement bonnet. I can't recall now if it was a case of there only being one option, or if it was a matter of lead-time, but I ended up with the slightly later version part which needed some fettling to get it to fit. I tweaked the nosecone to adapt it to the bonnet rather than the other way round.

Best bet would indeed be Westfield themselves as a first port of call.

you could get the nice new bottom while youre at it. I was at stoneleigh looking at it for 2 days and it's a really neat design. thumbs up from me.

Confess I did consider a re-body of the car but it looked pretty pricey, so ended up getting a respray after doing some work on the body.

It all started out as a desire to replace the 21 year old trailer-esque rear lights.....and finished up as a pretty much full-on body restore/mod/respray...with new bonnet, wheels, brakes, rear lights, indicators etc etc biggrin

If I could just get the nose cone and Scuttle sorted I think I can live with the rest of the bodywork, even the ropey trailer rear lights, but I doesn't look like there's really going to be an 'easy' option.

There's a lot which Westfield have which doesn't appear on their webshop. They've only recently started updating it and adding some of the earlier stuff.

It's not cheep but you can still get most of the early bodywork from them. The only exception I'm aware of being the "lowline" bonnet and nose fitted to the very early narrow body cars. You should find a label laminated into the underside of your bodywork somewhere which will contain a mould number. If you give this number to the chaps in Parts they should be able to tell you if they still make them or not smile
