Its Gardner Douglas and yes they rightly in my opinion have a great reputation for their chassis design and engineering quality. the kits are second to none imho.

Been looking at cars with the LS engine ,there seems to be a big increase in price with the jag running gear to the bespoke chassis and running gear ..

I like the GD350 ,something a bit different .

Are all the Garner Douglas chassis basicly the same ?Im just talking about the Cobra style cars .

i think the chassis design is the same, it differs slightly around the suspension mounts etc

How good is the Jag back end next to modern fully independent suspension and diffs

its a very capable car even in jag form, the rear end is bomb proof even though it is a bit old fashioned.
It all depends on your use of the car which way you go.

The 2 options (Jag or Euro) are both fully IRS. Jag based is on the Old XJ6 inboard disk rear end (open diff or LSD), Euro chassis is bespoke hubs, outboard disks, BTR Hydratrak diff (iirc) - the Euro has the edge on adjustability plus if you want a "new" registration then that is the only way you can go (Jag based will end up with an age related plate).

Regards

Jim

PS -are they good? oh yes ;-)

does the jag system use the drive shaft as the upper wishbone?

if so any play that develops in the universal joints will also be felt as play in the rear suspension with a corresponding vagueness in the handeling.

i have seen extra wishbone mounts wellded onto the top of the jag uprights to take the load directly to the chassis and free up the drive shaft. this then allows a lighter cv joint and axle to be used, making the suspension lighter for better handeling and reducing rotating weight as well which gives an apparent HP boost.

May as well go for euro setup instead of making the jag euro similar

Yep, you could do all of that....or just change the sloppy UJ's, they're pretty cheap and dead easy to change ;-)

very unusual to see sloppy jag universals, they have grease points to keep them well lubed up.
