I was driving along the road yesturday and the Speedo stopped recording the speed whilst driving.

I have had a quick look at the cables and they seem to be all attached. Dies anyone have an idea on what the problem could be?
And is it an easy fix
Car is a tiger super cat.

Thanks all.

Has it stopped working alltogether or does not want to play above a certain speed?
Is it electronic or cable driven?

I'm not sure what type of Speedo it is! :S. How do I find out it looks like a genuine tiger one, has the badge on it.

Its stopped working all together does not move when in driving it.

Feel up behind the dash and see if the speedo has a cable about 8mm diameter going into the back of it.
If it does then that cable is the mechanical drive from the side of the gearbox. The route it takes to get to the speedo is very torturous so it is not surprising if the cable is broken.

Thanks Steve, I shall be having a look when I get home. I have a feeling it does have a single cable out the back. Will double check and try and follow it down then.

Thanks again smile

Most builders try and get the cable to bend after exiting the gearbox and run up the inside of the transmission tunnel. After breaking one or more cables they then find cutting a hole in the side of the transmission tunnel, alongside the cable exit from the gearbox, allows the cable to come through into the cockpit, snake around under the carpet and come up the inside of the footwel to the dash.

Thanks again Steve. Old man has booked it in with Haynes gaurage on Monday for a look over anyway. Does something similar with every car we buy.

If I can't work it out over the weekend then think they will have a look for us, always good to try myself first though got to try and learn biggrin.

Thanks again.
