First things first and the easiest thing to get done is the comfort. I have some bog standard Tiger seats at the moment, read some board with a bit of padding on. I want to get some sport seats that can be adjusted and a set of runners so old man can get a drive also, him being a bit shorter than me. Where would be the best place to get these?
Is it on-line, a company such as kitspares.co.uk or cbsonline.co.uk etc?

Second is the performance.

The engine is a 2ltr Pinto with Webber 45 carbs and according to a rolling road print out from the previous owner running about 120bhp. I would ideally like to get as much as possible, around 160 - 170 bhp if possible, at the end of it. What would be the best way to go about getting this? Would I be able to improve cams, pistons etc or would it be cheaper to go the whole way and get a new engine fitted in the winter?

Hope this makes sense and thanks for all replies

Simple to 140/150bhp the next 20/30bhp is a lot more money

Injection head
thin gasket
FR32 or equivelant
Carbs

Next step big valve head
Compression to 10.5 any more needs forged pistons
Rods safe to 7000 any more needs Cosworth rods
RL31 cam is about as far as you want with cast pistons

The squab seats in a Cat suit me fine being a larger gentleman. They allow the use of the full cockpit width. If you put in a seat on runners you have already reduced that width.

When looking for a seat remember that it will need to clear the bulge (pigs ear) caused by the rear subframe mounting. If the seat is not modified for this then you will not get the most rearward travel on the seats.
Intertrim do a seat specifically modified for the Cat.

Thanks Paul. A few things to have a look for then, some not so expencive and some more.

I dint mind the normal seats ether Steve but father wants something that he can slide as he is a bit shorter and finds it hard to get the brake peddle all the way down.
May just have to move the seats in there forward and bolt them down. Sire I can get used to it.

If you're looking for 160 - 170 bhp then it's going to be cheaper overall to convert to a Zetec. Getting a Pinto up to that level is perfectly possible but not cheap.

Have a look at the Burton Tuning Guides.
