Just read this in the August edition of Complete Kit Car magazine that there will be a concept kit car on show at the Donington show later this month. It says that a suggestion box will be there to take comments on how you think the future kit car should pan out.
Any guess's or inside knowledge on this one chaps?
First guess from me would be an EV, what do you think it will be?

God, I hope not!

The idea of boring crappy electric cars, no thanks!

Ev's are not popular yet and maybe will not be until petrol is even more expensive, so how about the other end of the spectrum, a V8 that goes around a track much faster than the Range Rover on top gear on Sunday. I am sure us kit car chaps can do slightly better than 1.29 around Donington.
Any other suggestions?

Stiggy, stop shouting in your thread titles hehe

I'm going for a modular shooting break FR kit car. Track toy and work van rolled into one.

My vote would be a for either -

compact coupe in the style of ginetta g40/epona/gregori gpr with a 100hp diesel (running at max efficiency rpm/load) bolted to a generator that then powers a 200hp electric motor with a battery/capacitor resevoir to fill in the power gap when accelerating - a kit car extender (similar ssystem to the ampere/fisker/morgan lifecar)

or

Something that looks like a Auto Union D type with an audi v10 + transaxle in the back, always thought the Edge Motorsports Devil would provide a good chassis for this !

or

for the techies - a bike engined seven with a chassis made from a composite sandwich - woven GRP outer skin bonded to a foam core bonded to a woven GRP inner (Carbon outer skin for looks if you like to leave it bare), ally tubular frames for front and rear suspension could be bonded into the core - similar to some of the formula student cars or the seven chassis the guys who developed the Larini/GTM Ballista looked into (boat builders) a long while back.

From the picture in the magazine and the description it would seem it will be a modern roadster body for a 7 type chassis.

My first guess was an EV and I now hear there will be an EV at the show. Not as the concept car though but a MEV Missile. My second guess is at the other end of the carbon footprint scale, I know we are all concerned about fuel costs these days but I do not do high miles in kit cars and will still take a regular blast in a V8 gas guzzler, even when the 2 gallons I burn will have cost me £50!
A great exhaust note and wind in what is left of my hair, I need that fix.
Is the kit car of the future not too far removed from what we already have, or will we be putting a V8 under a contemporary body?

"The theme is contemporary chiselled effect, sharp lines, a low bonnet a huge 450 bhp engine and a light weight space frame chassis make up this potential new kit car offering"

er, where's the future bit? You could use those exact words to describe the AC cobra from the early 1960's...............

I didn't see it as comparable to a 60's Cobra with a ladder frame chassis, a heavy steel engine and lots of compound curves as the concept has an alloy engine, sharp lines and a space frame chassis.

It was not that busy on Sat but Sunday was a great day. The audience were behind the camera in the video which did make the hall look empty.

Hi, it remains a one off at the moment. It is fitted with a Chevy LS-2
6000cc 400 bhp and 400 ft lbs of torque, that gives it 510 bhp per ton.
