Good clutch for Ford Type 9 on Vauxhall Redtop in Westy???
Discussion
As title says I'm looking for a clutch to fit in my Westy.
The car is running a 2.0 16v Vauxhall Redtop, dyno'd at 215bhp with a ford type 9 5 speed box.
I use the car primarily for hillclimbing, but also on the road but not really in anger, so want something reasonable competition based, or capable of a thrashing.
The current clutch has just started to slip at around 4500-5000rpm in 4th when on a steep gradient. Its not tooo noticable on the road but lost me a good few seconds on a hillclimb last weekend, pretty frustrating. The juddering felt almost like a rev limiter!
I am firstly unsure of what car the clutch should be from as I did not build the car. I hear sierra clutches should fit, saphire? Cosworth? etc
Secondly I am after something suitable and cost effective for my needs a sometimes heavy price tags don't necessarily guarantee the best product for the job.
Is a paddle clutch really necessary in a 500kg car?
Thankyou in advance
