I'm at the point of deciding what colour to paint my GD Mk4 body. I would welcome some advice on the type of finish to go for.

The car is definitely not going to be a showroom or garage queen - it will be driven and toured around europe at every opportunity.

I would dearly love a candy finish but have been warned off by the painters because once it has any damage, it would need a full respray - matching and touching up wouldn't be an option.

There are some newer products on the market including xirallic paints, which would give the wow factor I am looking for as well as this product: http://www.house-of-kolor.co.uk/index.php?main_pag... which seems to address the colour touch up issues.

Any advice is most welcome.

Always liked the Scooby Impreza Catalunya special paint - black metallic with a subtle touch of red sparkle, this with crimson/burgundy stripes/interior would do it for me.

if you want cheap and durable then there was (possibly is) a paint hull roll on self flatening paint that has been used fibreglass cars with some good results, the trick as with all paints is in the prep. I think there was a sylva mojo build on the net at some stage using this (red colour).
