Which 7" headlights provide most light
Discussion
I'm looking for a set of Cibie Iode or Biode headlights or the Carello or Marchal equivalents. As they're as rare as hens teeth I'm wondering which new 7"headlights will provide most light.
I remember back in the day that Wipac Quadoptics were very good and are still available. I've noticed ones with complex reflectors and plain flat glass and wonder if anyone has good experience with them?

The Wipacs were rubbish compared to Cibies. The Cibies were fantastic back in the day. http://www.larkspeed.com/index.pl?p=8482439&a=...
I've no experience on anything newer though.

I have these fitted to my 7 - great improvement on light output.

If you don't want the 'Angel Eyes' effect then I'm certain you can find some without.
Then, if you really want some power, replace you current H4 bulbs with some of the latest spec ones - maybe Osram Night Breakers or similar.
Modern H/Lamps are far superior to our old Lucas types so the clear lens and crystal reflectors do make a difference.

Im with this man- Ive fitted the crystal 5" units to my G33, with Osram Night breakers and its streets ahead of the original Cibies fitted. They focus the beam with the reflector, not the glass lenses- as all modern cars do. You can remove the metal cap that shields the end of the bulb as well. I did take some really heavy wiring straight from the back of the alternator, and switched it with relays right at the back of each lamp. This means you can get near 14 volts on the back of the bulb- its very effective if the original loom has dropped a volt or two on the way to the bulb...
