One of the guys at work is looking into building a "new" mgb from a heritage shell and all new parts (like Frontline development I guess).

IIRC there used to be a company making MGB Sebring style composite bodies - in the dim and deep parts of my brain "T6 Developments" come to mind. Can anyone confirm this and the company name and also whether this or similar companies/products exist. Also IIRC it wasn't cheap (similar £ to a heritage shell) but was a quality product.

Thanks in advance.

T6 did (do?) a GT6 shell.

Many thanks, my memory seems to have morphed a gt6 into an mgb. Thanks for straightening this out.

Not what you were thinking of I'm sure, but these guys are going a grp body conversion which looked very pretty when I saw it at Stoneleigh last year.

Thanksfor the rps link, I had seen these but the shell is still the original, just fibreglas bolt on panels, but will pass on details.

Using a Heritage shell gives you the possibility of avoiding IVA (check how Frontline development do it).

If you want to use a composite body will it:
  • Be a monocoque type structure (like Midas, GTM Libra, etc.)
  • Have a separate chassis
  • Retain the structural elements of an original MGB shell.
The first two options will require IVA.
Unless you want a change to the shape (like RPS) you might as well stick with a Heritage shell for the third option.

Quantum (Tifosi) used to do a midget sebring sprite and frogeye. The project has been sold on recently to another company, not sure what they do but maybe worth a google.
