Is this an active product? I can find very little information about it and the website doesn't seem to have been updated for some time or even properly finished.
Love the look of the car and am looking at various kit car build options at the moment, would love some more info on it.

Jim is a great engineer but a poor website designer!
Yes it's still available. What would you like to know?
Have a look at my facebook page. There is more info on there.

Thanks!
I'm pretty clueless about kit cars at the moment, my main reason for wanting to build one is to scratch my mechanical itch and have a hobby. There seems to be so much to know and very little info about where to start.
I have a single garage with power and light, some tools (though I know I will need to buy a lot more), willingness to learn and a dad who is pretty handy with the spanners. Ideally I'd like to build something with a v8, I know it's not the best for weight distribution / handling but I'm never likely to track my car, it will be a weekend jaunt kind of thing.
First question is, am I mad to consider it with such little experience?
A few questions specifically about this car though:
What donor is it based on?
How much of what I would need comes with the kit?
Roughly how many have been sold?
Rough idea of build cost? (I know this is one of those how long is a piece of string questions but a rough range would be helpful)
How much support is available during the build?
As it happens I'm a web developer so perhaps I can help in that regard.

Well to kick off Jim's demo car has a TVR V8 and goes quite well
Donor parts would normally be Sierra front uprights/hubs, brakes, rear bearing carriers, diff and driveshafts, steering column.
Budget? Indeed how long is a piece of string. You could probably do it for 10k. I would expect you to spend somewhere between 12 & 15k though by the time you have reconditioned the donor parts and bought some nice shiny bits.
Support? It bolts together quite easily. Jim is in Cornwall so closer for you that me in Manchester! Normally a phone call can sort out any problems and Jim can supply every bit you need to build it.
Come and find me at Stoneleigh and I can answer any questions you have. I will be on the TGTM pitch.

I've recently ordered one, and am going down the V8 engine route.
I intend to use the car mainly on the road with the occasional track day and the V8 seemed a good fit for that.
(plus it sounds fantastic!)
I haven't got the kit yet so I can't offer much advice about the build, ask me again in a few months time.

Interesting! What is the lead time on the delivery of the kit?I intend to use the car mainly on the road with the occasional track day and the V8 seemed a good fit for that.

Does it come in one big package or is it in modules that you can buy bit by bit?
Do the manufacturers (JWE?) provide the required donor car bits if I choose not to source a donor myself?
Jim (Jim Walker Engineering) can normally supply the Sierra bits you will need.
Delivery will depend on his and the boat builder who make the bodies work load but I would expect 4-8 weeks.
You could buy it however you want it. Either a van full of bits or Chassis and parts to get it rolling. Body with lights etc, loom whatever you want.

Lead time is as Rodger said about 4 to 8 weeks. Mine is looking like being nearer the 8 than the 4 as guys who make the bodyshells are very busy at the moment.Does it come in one big package or is it in modules that you can buy bit by bit?

Options range from getting just the chassis kit and bodyshell, through to JWE suppling pretty much everything you need including the doner ford sierra parts.
Between these two ends of the scale you can pretty much pick and choose on a part by part basis.
I've souced my sierra parts from JWE as it was a lot less hassle than trying to find them myself (particulaly as I wanted a limited slip diff).
Theres a bunch of stuff I won't need for a while that haven't ordered yet in order to spread out the cost a little (seats, instruments, lights etc).
