It's time to combine a couple of things I've been wanting to do for some time, the main item being to build a kit car, the second item to spend more time at track days.

So the focus of the kit car when finished will be track use with the occasional sunny day in the lakes or dales. Having looked around and reading various forums/blogs I'm leaning torwards a Mevabusa. I like the idea of a bike based kit, it also works from a space point of view. Are there other similar kits I should be considering?

Depending on your budget and if you like the exo style my favourite is the deronda plus it will fit an audi v8 in the back. An alternative would also be the spire gt which is doing well in some race series or possibly a second hand radical. My outher addition to the short list would be the agm wlr, batman goes to lemans styling I like, big engine bay so why not use it and stick an ls3 in there.

The main advice is to go to a show (Donnington) look around at the stands and owners cars, make a short list, visit the factories and meet the people, drive or get ride alongs, log onto the owners sites and go from there.

Happy hunting.

Definately go to a show and have a look around and a chat. Donnington is a good shout, smaller than stoneleigh but it's soon and has a decent number of cars to look around.

1.Budget?
2. Road legal requirement?
3. Do you want the aggro of IVA?

My thoughts would be for a used Fury or similar
You can then modify to
Your hearts content .

Donnington mightbe difficult date wise, but will have to try and make time.

Budget originally was 7/8k but decided to increase that to around 12k.

Road legal is not a requirement strictly speaking but it's something I'd like to do regardless.

Will take a look at the other open cars suggested, thanks.

Mevabusa will be tight on a £12k budget - their kit in a box is £12k plus you then need a written of hyabusa bike (£3kish), there is one on the PH classifieds for £18k at the mo.

Not as pretty but probably as quick, spend the the other £5k on sorting it out to how you want and loads of track time/tuition - http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/k...

or this - http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/k...
For less than £1k you can get this engine over 180hp - shawspeed SS4 cams, uprated valve springs and arp bolts, remap, this will rev to 8500rpm and the engine weighs under 100kg, absolute cracker.

if you just have to have a busa engine then this looks like a good starting point for not a lot of cash - http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/k...

Alternatively if you want to do a bit of spannering- http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/b...
this has been up for sale for quite a bit so may be worth a negotiation.

For info I was at a track day (Bruntingthorpe) where two R1 powered lightweight Furys were running rings around a new Porsche 911 Turbo S so this will give you an idea how this type of car would perform.

Happy hunting.
